The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen as Head of Wills, Probate and Trusts for an experienced, well motivated Private Client specialist to join the team and continue to develop a successful department.

The role will be home and office based. The successful candidate will be involved in a broad range of tasks including:

  • Management of own case load of Private Client matters with a particular focus on:
    • Preparation of Wills and Trusts
    • Preparation of Lasting Powers of Attorney
    • Succession, asset protection and tax planning
    • Estate administration
  • Establishing and maintaining good client relationships, building trust and confidence through regular communication and high quality, appropriate advice.
  • Establishing and maintaining existing relationships with clients and third parties
  • Participating in networking and business development initiatives and activities of the department and the firm.
  • Involvement in the development and implementation of new business generation initiatives.

Skills / Experience Required

  • Qualified solicitor with STEP qualifications
  • Experience and confidence in networking with third parties
  • Ambitious and passionate about generation of new opportunities
  • High standard of written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong IT, organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion, empathy and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Demonstrable ability and ambition to maintain and build client and referral relationships.

Apprenticeship – Accounts

Job description

The role is full time, 35 hours per week, based at our offices in Altrincham.

The role reports to the Accountant, with input from the Practice Manager and the Commercial Accountant.

Accounting

  • Paying cheques into the bank
  • Issuing cheques
  • Downloading, checking and posting supplier invoices
  • Reconciling supplier statements
  • Liaison with suppliers when queries arise regarding payment
  • Checking and posting invoices for disbursements
  • Issuing payments for disbursements
  • Set up payments using online banking
  • Posting of bills and notifying fee earners of any discrepancies
  • Other accounting tasks as required by the demands of the business.

Credit Control

  • Review weekly credit control report and contact debtors to arrange payment of overdue funds

Management Accounts

  • Reconcile statements from report providers
  • Distribute management reports as required

Personal Qualities

  • Time management and time keeping
  • Prioritisation of tasks according to business need
  • Understand the priorities of different areas of the role
  • Understand the need for confidentiality in relation to client and business. Maintain that confidentiality. – This includes complying with the firm’s data protection and confidentiality policies.

  • Attention to detail including being prepared for meetings, appointments with 3rd parties

Apprenticeship - Administration

The role is full time, 35 hours per week, based at our offices in Altrincham.

The role reports to the Admin Manager, with input from the Practice Manager.

Administration

  • Opening and sorting incoming post on a daily basis
  • Scanning of all incoming post and sending to team leaders for checking
  • Management of paper copies of post, including secure destruction after a defined period
  • Management of outgoing post, including monitoring special deliveries, organising courier services.
  • Co-ordination of collection and delivery of confidential records by 3rd parties
  • Management of stock levels of stationary and ordering replacement supplies as required.
  • Assist in the archiving and management of medical records, including those stored offsite.
  • Meeting and greeting visitors
  • Assist Admin Manager in facilities management of the offices
  • Other administration tasks as required by the demands of the business
