Peter initially qualified as a First Level Registered Nurse, before completing his law degree (LLB) with a 2:1 (coming in the top 7% of his academic year at the University of Leicester). He was admitted to the role of solicitors on 15th September 1999. He has since completed a Master of Laws (LLM) in Health Law.  He joined us as a Consultant solicitor in 2013.

Based in South East England, Peter specialises in clinical negligence and personal injury claims. Since 2013 he has recovered damages for seriously injured people exceeding £32 million.

Peter is also a Professional Deputy appointed by The Court of Protection in London and manages the property and affairs for a number of his brain injured clients who lack capacity.

Peter has represented a number of families at pre inquest hearings and full inquests where he undertakes his own advocacy, and has obtained narrative verdicts at Article 2 compliant inquisitions.

Peter is a former member of The Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Accreditation Scheme and is also a former Assessor on that scheme. He is also an Accredited Clinical Negligence Specialist with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and a Fellow of APIL.

Peter has given presentations on clinical negligence to The Oxford Haematology Group, The Police Federation, and Trade Unions as well as to audiences numbering over 200 doctors, nurses and lawyers in the South East of England. He has also presented material on Medical Law at Masters Level and is a part-time lecturer and has been a part-time lecturer and mentor on the Legal Practice Course at the University of Westminster.

Peter’s clients regard him as being able to ‘demonstrate a clear understanding of the extremely distressing and personal details’ of individual cases, of ‘offering exceptional support, advice and professionalism’ and in particular have said of Peter that he is a ‘sensitive’ and ‘honest solicitor’.

Outside the office Peter is a keen sailor, cyclist and swimmer and is the father of two girls.

“In 2013, and due to medical negligence, I had a catastrophic event and nearly died.

But, I must admit the same hospital’s cardio ward saved my life. My wife worked on this ward, so we knew from the outset what had happened and what was going on.

Six weeks later I was allowed to return home and had an out-patients appointment booked. At this time I had no intentions to pursue the hospital and was just happy to be alive. I returned to the hospital for my out-patient appointment with the surgeon and his team that had nearly killed me and mentioned this to him and he started shouting at me and advised me I should take the matter further if I wished. All I wanted was an apology!!!

Months later I had returned back to work as being self – employed as its challenges, being a taxi driver. One evening I picked up a customer and we started talking about things as you do and it was obviously meant to be as it was Peter. He gave me his card and said to call if I want to pursue the matter.

Well, I was still unsure and left it a couple of months before deciding to call. Peter remembered me and decided to meet. It was the best decision I had ever made. Peter took control of everything from start to finish with his wife Angela too. Peter’s clinical background and knowledge was very impressive. I could ring and ask questions at any time and with their knowledge and expertise knew all the answers. It was a pleasure to work with them and we became friends during this whole process. All I had to do was turn up at any appointment that had been made for me and leave everything to Peter and Angela. But, during this ordeal Peter was always more concerned about my health and my future care and the financial aspect was always second. I did not ring chasing anything as there is no point as this process takes years and I knew that before I started and was advised too. But, if I needed advice Peter and Angela were there for me.

The hospital admitted all liability and offered me £8K. With Peter’s expert assistance and advice I ended up accepting £85K.

I am stable now and will always have medical treatment the rest of my life, but I am still here and with the settlement Peter and Angela have got me, it has given me financial stability. Especially being self-employed it makes all the difference.
