Team Feature 10/10: Jack Fitzsimons

Jack Fitzsimons - Price Slater GawneJack Fitzsimons was Price Slater Gawne’s first apprentice and joined the team straight from South Trafford College in 2015.

He started out his career with a split admin/accounts support role and eventually moved into the accounts department full-time.

He is currently studying hard for his Level 4 AAT qualification and is very much looking forward to becoming a fully qualified accountant.

Out of work, Jack is quite the social butterfly – often out and about frequenting local eateries/bars/cinema etc.  He’s a self-confessed ‘armchair’ Manchester United fan and enjoys a good lie-in at the weekend (and let’s be honest, who doesn’t)!

Here are a few other things Jack told us …

Name Jack Fitzsimons
Job Title Accounts Assistant
Joined the team in September 2015
What does your role entail? I am generally the first port of call for most accounts based questions from our fee earners. I get involved with most things in accounts including controlling outgoing payments to suppliers and experts, processing funds we receive, bank reconciliations, and monitoring all the balances on our client accounts.  I’d like to be more involved with the management side of our accounts, as I become more qualified and experienced.
Why did you choose to join Price Slater Gawne? I chose the role at PSG as I thought an apprenticeship would be a great way to get into the area of work that I wanted to do, at a grass-roots level. I was never interested in going to University and thought that starting my career in a firm where I didn’t need any practical experience would be ideal, especially if I could get experience on the job and be earning at the same time
If you could only have three apps on your smartphone, which would you choose? Spotify, Online Banking & Instagram
What’s a mistake you made early on in your career, and what did you learn from it? I’ve made plenty of mistakes whilst learning my role, but I’ve found the best way to learn is repetition and by being made to correct your own error rather than someone else doing it for you
What career did you have your heart set on when you were growing up? I wanted to be a fireman
What is your biggest pet peeve? The sound of chewing
Tell us something most people don’t know about you I used to be a blonde when I was younger!
What’s at the top of your bucket list? I love to travel, so I quite fancy going somewhere like Dubai or Vegas. What I don’t fancy is the usual jumping out of a plane or bungee jumping! Not for me at all!
