Inquest into death of Robert Hart

Statement of Chris Gawne, Price Slater Gawne Solicitors, on behalf of Allan Hart on opening of the inquest into the death of Robert Hart

Robert Hart (DOB 04.03.1988 ) was assaulted at the Parklife Festival at Heaton Park on 07.06.2014, sustaining a head injury. He was taken by ambulance to North Manchester General Hospital and admitted. He deteriorated the following morning and was transferred to Salford Royal Hospital. He died on 11.06.2014

The inquest into Robert’s death begins on 02.11.2015 before Mr Meadows, HM Senior Coroner for Manchester, and is scheduled for 5 days. Evidence will be heard from paramedics, doctors and nurses responsible for Robert’s care.

Allan Hart said:

“I want to make sure no stone is left unturned in the search for answers about what happened to my wonderful son Robert. I want the organisations involved to learn lessons so that other families do not have to go through what we have been through. I have full confidence that the inquest process, led by Mr Meadows, will lead to questions being answered and will give an opportunity to identify changes so that patients with head injuries are given the care that their condition warrants.”

Mr Hart is represented at the inquest by Mr Killian Garvey of Kings Chambers, instructed by Mr Chris Gawne of Price Slater Gawne.

No further comment will be made until after the conclusion of the inquest.
