The school summer holidays – six weeks of sunshine, holidays and fun family days out… or so they are often portrayed.
The reality for some families is far from this. Pressures on couples are often increased during school holiday periods as the challenges of childcare, financial demands and a desire to provide exciting and memorable experiences for their children all become more prominent.
Whilst many of these challenges exist throughout the year, pressures on one another alongside career demands and the expectations of children can all become overwhelming.
For some couples, the summer holidays can become a countdown to their children returning to school and the return of the ‘normal’ routine.
Within our Family Law department, we often see a spike in divorce enquiries following children returning to school in September, where the pressures of the holidays expose the irreversible cracks in a relationship. For other couples, the prospect of spending long periods of time with one another raises questions regarding differences in outlooks, wishes, goals and a decision to part ways in reached.
Irrespective of the circumstances, reaching the decision that a divorce is the best option for you can be a difficult decision to make. It is also likely to raise a number of questions about the future, financial matters, child arrangements and where you stand from a legal perspective.
If you are considering divorce, our specialist Family law solicitor, Nicholas Clough can assist with any questions you may have. In addition, Nicholas can also work with you and your former partner as a Mediator, to support you in reaching mutually beneficial decisions and agreements in relation to finances and child arrangements.
