Charity donation in lieu of Christmas cards

Rather than sending Christmas cards out this year, we have once again made a donation to a local charity.

EVERYONE CAN, based in Sale, Greater Manchester is a charity that provides training and assistive-technology to people living with physical and learning disabilities. This valuable support mechanism gives them the tools to be able to communicate, live independently, control their environment and most of all have FUN!

Nikki Jones, the charity’s Community Engagement and Fundraising Officer came into our offices in Altrincham last week to collect her cheque and to tell us more about what they do.

“At Everyone Can, we do everything we can to help people living with disabilities to control their environment and communicate with as much ease and independence as possible.

“Unlike some other charities, we don’t restrict people because of their age, disability type, or how complex their needs are. We offer a fully inclusive core service which is split into two main sectors: individual assessments and open sessions.

“Individual assessments are more of a bespoke service. We aim to help individuals in whatever they’re trying to achieve by recommending a range of specialist technologies. Where a solution is not immediately apparent or available, the team here are well positioned to throw the net out to the wider technological market to look for viable solutions.

“But our real specialism lies in our assistive open sessions. These are all about “gaming together” and having fun. These sessions focus on playing video games in a relaxed, sociable and purpose-built environment. And it’s not just the children who benefit from these sessions, adults love them too!”

Nikki went on to say, “Securing government funding for gaming is extremely difficult. But whether they’re disabled or not, people just want to have fun. Especially the children. That’s why accessibility is important, to give them the opportunity to play alongside their able-bodied friends and siblings.

“We are overwhelmed and extremely grateful at being offered such a generous donation from Price Slater Gawne. As a completely self-funded charity, we rely heavily on charitable support and it’s terrific that a local company has chosen to support us”.

Vicky Price from Price Slater Gawne said, “It is a privilege for us to be involved with Everyone Can. Their ground breaking ideas are opening doors to disabled people every day – helping them to access and enjoy a fully-inclusive lifestyle that includes practical and leisure activities.”
