Price Slater Gawne continues its programme of training and retaining solicitors specialising in medical negligence, with the appointment of Olivia Honaker.
Olivia joined the firm in 2014 after previous experience as a paralegal and is the 3rd solicitor to have trained and qualified with them. Her appointment continues the 100% retention rate for trainee solicitors.
Based in Altrincham, the firm specialises in claims for medical negligence, professional negligence, and criminal injuries. Its steady growth since its formation 6 years ago makes it one of the largest teams of medical negligence specialists in the North West.
Training Principle and Partner Mark Slater said “We offer our trainee solicitors the opportunity to train almost exclusively in claimant litigation work for the entirety of their training contract. This means that they gain experience in far more of the litigation process than they would normally do in a 6 month placement in the specialism. As newly qualified solicitors they are already well versed in the litigation process and have gained significant medical knowledge which is needed to assess a potential claim. Olivia is an asset to the firm.”
When asked how she felt about choosing to train in a specialism Olivia said “I have always had an interest in clinical negligence work. The opportunity to run my own files, with close supervision and training, has meant I have had experience in areas that I would not normally see until some time after qualifying. As a result the step into the role as a newly qualified solicitor is not nearly so daunting.”
Authorised as a training provider by the Solicitors Regulation Authority in 2013 the firm has recruited, trained and retained 3 solicitors and has a further 3 working through their period of recognised training.
