The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority compensates people who have been physically, mentally or sexually injured. They must be the blameless victim of a violent crime.

The violent incident must have:

  • been reported to the Police;
  • happened in England, Scotland or Wales;
  • occurred in the last two years.

An applicant must have:

  • cooperated fully with the police;
  • sought medical advice for their injuries within 6 weeks of the incident;
  • not be living with the abusive partner any longer.
