For most of us Christmas is a time of love, happiness and fun. But for many people Christmas can be the most difficult time of the year.
Statistics have shown a seasonal surge of domestic violence at Christmas year on year. Factors such as the financial pressure of Christmas, increased stress and anxiety and increased alcohol intake are often reported as causes for incidents of domestic violence.
If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, you can go to the Freephone 24 Hour National Domestic Violence Helpline on 0808 2000 247 or go to www.nationaldomesticviolencehelpline.org.uk. Anyone in immediate danger should call 999.
