Christmas…It’s the most wonderful time of the year, or so the song goes.
For many of us, this is the case, time off from studies or work, spent with loved ones, enjoying the fun and festivities.
The reality for some however, can be quite different. It can create a lot of stress, financial pressures and worries and relationship problems. For people who live with tension at home the pressure of Christmas can make these problems far worse.
Relationships that are under strain can breakdown quickly at Christmas time – especially where there has been a history of violence and abuse already.
Alcohol and drugs can cause situations to get out of control.
If this is happening to you – call a charity such as Refuge, call the police – get to a safe place. If you have children make sure you are all safe. Charities such as ‘Refuge’ will work with you to explore your options, provide temporary accommodation and practical support to help you move forward.
There are also a number of other organisations who can provide help, support and information. – https://www.gov.uk/report-domestic-abuse
At Price Slater Gawne, we understand how difficult it can be to break the cycle of abuse. We have experience of working with survivors to access compensation, which could help them access treatment to overcome the effects of what they have been through or even to build a new future.
If you have been the victim of domestic violence and would like to speak to a solicitor who is specialised in personal injury and assault, please contact us, in complete confidence on 0161 615 5554. All initial consultations are free of charge.
